I have measured out my life with coffee spoons.

As long as it isn’t a saftey hazard, I don’t see why we can’t have them. And yeah, if the tattoo is inappropriate or if your plugs have something inappropriate on them, then I can see why they would want them covered up it taken out. But if you have blue hair and the store or whatever wont hire you because of that, fuck them. I like your blue hair, I’ll hire you.

This.

One hundred percent support

This means a lot to me because I have tattoos and (frequently changing) weird colored hair (right now it’s purple). I am graduating school very soon and I worry about how hard it will be to find a job due to prejudice against my appearance. :(

Stop Stigma Sacramento
The Mental Illness: It’s not always what you think project was initiated by Sacramento County Department of Health and Human Services’ Division of Behavioral Health Services to
-Reduce stigma and discrimination
-Promote mental health and wellness
-Inspire hope for people and families living with mental illness

For material in English, Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese, Hmong, and Russian, visit the StopStigma materials page
For mental health resources in the county, visit the NAMI Sacramento website

I wanted to share more of the material from StopStigma. I got a lot of responses, commenting on everything from the incredible diversity in the campaign to the exclusion of anxiety in the original post. (I left it out for consistency. Because these are a different size and it bothered me too much.) So here’s a post with more representation of the people of Sacramento and of anxiety.
There are no words to describe how I feel about having a teacher and a community leader living with anxiety included. Such an inspiration.

anxiety is terrible, you could be having an attack and no one would even know because it’s an inward thing. it feels like you’re malfunctioning and you can’t process your own thoughts. you get a knot in your stomach and you can’t take a full breath but outwardly you can literally just sit there and look completely normal as long as no one tries to speak to you.
